Day 10: Praying for Our Children
We live in the times where the Word of God is gradually being diluted even by those who are supposed to teach the word. Raising up Godly children in this generation is the best legacy any true believer can leave for their children. Modern-day technology is gradually taking away quality family relationships. Children prefer more time on their electronics then hanging around with parents to learn something about God while assisting in cooking. At schools, the children spend time with peers and teachers talking about the latest gossip on social media. If we must instill spiritual righteousness in the lives of these children, we MUST pray for them, encourage them to create a habit of studying the Word and praying on a routine basis.
1 Samuel 2:26 “And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with men.”
Pray that our children will grow in stature, knowledge, understanding, wisdom of God and His favor IN every aspect of life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Pray that our children will desire to study the word of God and allow the word to penetrate them so that they may be equipped to face the challenges the world brings to them.
Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.”
Pray that God will arise through the power of the Holy Spirit and teach our children His ways.
2 Timothy 3:14-15 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
Pray that God in His mercies will grant grace for them to continue growing and practicing that which they have learned about God.
Psalm 139:13-16 “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
Declare this word in the lives of our children that they may know how wonderfully God created so don’t live by the way the world wants to frame them. Some of them are bullied, some don’t fit in with their peers, some wants to be drawn into false identifiers.
1 Samuel 17:33-37 “And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for you are but a youth, and he has been a man of war from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock, I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him. Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.” And David said, “The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”
Pray that God will make great, bold, and strong leaders like David out of our children to stand against the Philistines of their generation
2 Chronicles 34:1-3 “Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in the ways of David his father, and he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and the metal images.”
Pray that our children will be bold to declare their faith in Christ and will not allow anyone to despise them because they are young. 1 Timothy 4:12-14 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.”
Pray that God will stir a desire in them for the things of God, that they will be sold for God’s kingdom.
Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
Pray against the spirit of rebellion in the life of our children, that they will walk in obedience.
3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
There is so much joy in God’s heart when we walk in truth. In today’s age, lying seems to be the order of the day. Pray that God will grant grace for them to speak the truth at all times.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Pray that the plan of God must come to pass in their walk with God, education, calling and marriage.
Pray against to craftiness of the enemy; telling them lies about their lives, identify and value.
Pray that God will arise and frustrate the plans of the enemy
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Pray that they will open their hearts to understand and accept the call of God upon their lives
Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
Pray that the blessing of the Lord will rest upon them when they go out and when they come in.
Proverbs 12:26 “The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.”
Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them into choosing their friends
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Pray for a heart of excellent and Godly character in every aspect; school, spiritual, friendship, and career etc.
Pray for their future; they will keep themselves pure unto the Lord and He will bring them Godly spouses.
Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”
Pray against any plan of the enemy over their lives in every aspect of their lives.
2 Samuel 22:3-4 “My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.”
Pray that they will know God for themselves as their God, rock, refuge, shield, salvation, savior, shield and protection.
Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Declare this verse Romans 12:1-2 over them, that it shall come to pass in every aspect of their daily lives.
Thank you for praying.
