21-Day Prayer & Fasting: Day 9 – Hold Fast unto Your Faith
There have been times when I have gone through some challenges in life and come to a place where I felt it was the end of the road, so why bother or pray? Sometimes I don’t think I have any more strength to keep pushing on in prayer. In such moments, I get to the state of spiritual weakness and sometimes I feel like I must have done something wrong for God not to have heard my cry. Sometimes I feel cheated, defeated, betrayed, cast down, beaten, wounded, worthless or shamed, not even wanting to look at any one in the eye. I know many of you have been there at some point in life. I came to realize that it’s not the way we feel or think that moves God. God is the creator of the universe, He remains seated on the throne ruling over the entire earth. He is God regardless of our thinking or feeling. He rules in power and authority. Who can tell Him what to do? Who knows His next move? When I review Hebrew 10: 19-23 above, I see that coming to God calls for a level of confidence, affirming in our hearts that He is true and He is who He says He is. We come by the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses us from everything that is not welcomed in His presence. We come into this throne in full confidence and truth knowing that whatever He says is true and whatever He promises will come to pass. If we know this as truth, then we will have the confidence and strength to hold on to His promises by faith knowing that the promises will come to pass. We do not look at our problems from a human perspective. Our reasoning should never be aligned with the way the world operates or define things. Our living is by faith only in God and this same God who promises is faithful. We do not look at our situation or focus on them but we look on to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. When Peter focused on Jesus, he was able to walk on the water but when he looked down, he began to sink. Without faith we cannot please God. We look to Him for breakthroughs now.
2 Thessalonians 2:14-15 “He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.” We are called into this mystery of faith through the word of God and we must hear, medicate, and hold unto this Word so dearly and walk in it. Our whole life depends on it and nothing more. For according to Hebrews 3:6 “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God's house. And we are His house, if we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.” There is really nothing more, we are His house only on one condition. “HOLD FIRMLY TO HIS WORD BY WHICH YOU CAN MAKE YOUR BOAST”. The enemy cannot challenge this Word of truth.
Pray that the Lord will grant you the grace to hold onto your faith in Him, your hope and His promises and not exchange it for anything irrespective of what it is. We serve a faithful God.
Jeremiah 15:20 “Then I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you. declares the LORD.”
Pray that the Lord will make you into a fortified wall of bronze, no devil can overpower a wall that God has built.
James 2:23 “And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called a friend of God.” Whatever you have been trusting God for arise and begin to call it to come to past over your life in Jesus mighty. When the Israelites came to the place of the red sea, they saw in front the sea and behind the Egyptians and they were caught up in the middle. I can imagine what was going on in their minds. Soon the word of the Lord came froth. Exodus 14: 13 “Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.”
Pray that the Lord will arise and deliver you from any red sea before you or Egyptians pursuing you to your land of promise. Pray against those roadblocks that have been standing before your journey, declare that you will not see them anymore as you move forward in ending 2020 and entering 2021.
Daniel 3: 15b-18 “But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.”
These three Hebrew boys stood by what I will call an unshakable faith in the midst of trouble and they said “even if the Lord will not deliver, they WILL NOT BOW to King Nebuchadnezzar’s god. The king asked the guards to increase the heat in the fire, but to their surprise when they were thrown in there, the men who threw them were burned and the Lord send His angel and delivered His people. He has not changed, call on this same God to arise and deliver you from whatever. Oh, that you will not comprise your relationship with God because your life is at a crossroad.
Genesis 15: 1-3 “After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward." But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
Have you come to a place where you feel exposed, threaten by the enemy, defeated, shamed and people are looking at you wondering what happened to you? Abram was there before but the Lord showed up. He has not change. Arise and cry, ask the Lord for a divine intervention.
Titus 1:9 “He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it was taught, so that by sound teaching he will be able to encourage others and refute those who contradict this message.”
When you are able to stand in firm, it gives you the strength and boldness to encourage another person with the same message: Ask the Lord for help
2 Kings 6:16 "Do not be afraid," Elisha answered, "for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 2 Chronicles 20: 15 &17 “And he said, "Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, for the battle does not belong to you, but to God. “You need not fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you.'"
Have you come to that place where on every side you feel the enemy has surrounded you and there is no escape? Are you afraid of the unknown? Call on the Lord, the battle belongs to Him. By faith we must declare our victory.
Daniel 6:16, 20, 23 “So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, "May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!" When he reached the den, he cried out in a voice of anguish, "O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?" The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den, and when Daniel was lifted out of the den, no wounds whatsoever were found on him, because he had trusted in his God.”
Has the enemy placed you in his den and tell you, I will see how you will get out? The enemy may even be laughing and saying this is exactly what we wanted. Arise call on the God in the lion’s den. He is still the Lord who delivers even in the den of lions.
Job 2: 9 “His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” Job 36:15 “But those who suffer he delivers in their suffering; he speaks to them in their affliction” Job 42:10 “And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” Job’s wife had looked at the husband and was at the point of letting go but Job was not. He stood on the word of God believing that God will deliver him. God indeed restored all even more than he had ever had.
Pray that God will restore every aspect of anything that concerns your life, family, job and ministry ever if you have lost all. He did it for Job and he has not changed.
