Day 8: 12/4/23: Marriage, God’s Way
Marriage is honorable to God. God uses marriage to describe his relationship with the church. The honor given to a marriage lays the foundation for how it will be governed. The marriage bed here does not just represents sex but rather the free and secret space for the couple; a place where the love of Christ is the center and controls the way a couple relates to each other. It can be defiled by words and actions. The modern society including the church does not treat marriage with such honor that it deserves, rather looks at marriage as a conditional contract.
Pray that God will grant the grace that brings froth a revelation of what it means to honor marriage so that the church will begin to view marriage from God’s viewpoint.
Genesis 2:18 “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Pray that God will grant grace of understanding the position and responsibility of a woman so that there are no conflicts.
Genesis 2:24: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
This leaving and holding fast is an area that has not been easy to follow or fully understood and therefore has created its own issues. Pray that God will grant the church the revelation and sound doctrine of leaving and holding fast.
Matthew 19:6 - "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.
Mark 10 “6 But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘7 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, 8and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. 9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Declare this word upon every marriage and ask that the blood of Jesus will glue couples together. Pray that couples will view one another in the image of Christ as one.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 “4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
Love in Christ is the center of gravity that controls every aspect of the marriage. It was this same love that move God to bring salvation to this dying world. Pray that the Love of Christ will dwell in Marriages. Pray that the God of mery will restore Love in every marriage that is currently going through difficulties.
1 Peter 3:7 “Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”
Pray that God will grant husbands the grace to view this scripture with the eyes of God and act upon it.
Mathew 5:32 “But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”
The wicked spirit of divorce has eaten up the principles of marriage in the church. It’s more easy to just walk away from marital commitments than sit down for a loving dialogue. Pray again this wicked spirit.
1 John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows. “
Pray for the unconditional love of Christ to consume marriages.
Ruth 1: 16-17 “16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. 7 Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”
Stand on this word and declare it over every marriage.
John 2: 7-10 “7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
Pray that Jesus will step into every troubled marriage and bring in new wine; love, peace, as restore that which the enemy has stolen.
Zechariah 2:5 “And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”
Pray that God will arise and build the wall of fire around marriages so that the enemy will not see it.
