Day 2: A Cry For Mercy

One does not need a Phophet to tell us the times in which we are living in. It’s very evident in what we see, hear, do or interact with/participate in etc. We are in the season where even visual lies are accepted as truths without any form of shame or regrets. However, the word of God is still the same. God will judge us based solely on his word and nothing else irrespective of our circumstance. It is very painful to see Christians living in sin worse than unbelievers. It is important that we cry for mercy for this is the best way out.

Ask God for mercy upon us as intercessors first before anyone else. We may have even failed to pray. Years ago, God trusted me enough to reveal one of his burdens to me about the nations. I took a causal approach to prayer, left it there causally, and never bothered. Fast forward to today, I see the manifestation of what God had showed. My heart hurt each time I see such wickedness. Had I taken it as a daily burden, I am sure the story would have been different.

Exodus 34:6-7 “6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”

Cry for mercy and forgiveness for the sins committed by our parents, grandparents, spiritual parents, children, and family members etc.

The mercy of God is a shield against destruction so cry out to God: 2 Chronicles 30:9 “For if you return to the Lord, your brothers and your children will find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.”

Psalm 57:1 “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.”

Nehemiah 9:31 “Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.”

The mercy of God is a guarantee for a life time. Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

In the place of wrath ask God for mercy. The Mercy of God can avert death. Psalm 119:77 “Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight.”

Ask for mercy on behave of the church. It’s becoming an entertainment center of religion and worldliness instead of prayer and worship. Jeremiah 3:12 “Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, faithless Israel, declares the Lord. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the Lord; I will not be angry forever.”

God will hear our cry not for anything else but his great mercy. Daniel 9:18 “O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.”

Ask God for mercy over the wickedness in the nations:

Micah 7:18 “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”

If God would put his mind to remember our sins, we will not be living. Ask God to remember only his mercy over the ministers of the Gospel. Thank God for Jesus.

Psalm 25:6-7 “Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good. “

Finally thank the Lord who always look forward to showing us Mery and keeping his word.

Isaiah 30:18 “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice.Blessed are all who wait for him!”
