Day 15: 12/11/23: Praying for Missionaries

“For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”
— Acts 13:47
“And that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”
— Luke 24:47

Every true believer in Christ is a light and has been commanded to shine into the world and bring salvation to the perishing souls. However, we have these special people called missionaries who have taken an extra step.

Genesis 12:1-3 “1The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Just as the Lord call Abram to a place where he physically has no business being there, that is how God calls missionaries. It is left on them to say yes or no. Pray that more Christians will answer this call .

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Pray for sufficient grace for the missionaries. They go through a lot; leaving families behind or taking them to new places where they have to adjust and adapt to the cultures and conditions. Sometimes finances can be a real problem. Some have lost property and families just because they are missionaries.

Romans 10:13-15 “13 for Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Every human being on the surface of the earth has a right to hear the word of God. How precious it is that some people have given up everything to ensure that these people have an opportunity to hear the word of God. For someone to hear the word, somebody must be there to tell them and that person is called, sanctified and sent to the world.

The word of God has power to convict, change and transform. Pray that as they hear the word, it will penetrate the heart and convict the hearer as well as bringing them to the place of repentance.

Daniel 10:19 “Do not be afraid, you who are highly precious," he said. "Peace be with you! Be strong now; be very strong!" As he spoke with me, I was strengthened and said, "Speak, my lord, for you have strengthened me."

Pray that the Lord himself will give them peace and strengthen them spiritually and physically.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Pray that the Spirit of truth will reveal this scripture to every missionary. The heart of love is the heart that God wants to see in the field. Pray that this kind of love will fill their hearts so that they will intend on offer that love to the world.

Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Pray that their daily life will be filled with love just like Jesus loved.

Luke 10:2 “And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Pray that the church will answer this call so we can have more missionaries in the fields.

Exodus 4:11-12 “The Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.”

Jonah 1:1-4” 1 The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”3 But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord. 4 Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.”

Pray for the grace to answer the call and go instead of taking the unwanted path like Jonah.

Isaiah 54: 17 “no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me," declares the Lord.”

Psalm 17: 8-10 “8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings 9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. 10 They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.”

Pray for the canopy of the Lord to protect them and their families. Pray that God will hide them under his wings.

2Peter 1:3 “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.”

Pray that whenever their needs are, God who called them will provide all this needs.

Psalm 107:1-3 “ 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, 3 those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.”

Thank God for every missionary on the surface of the earth.

Day 14: 12/10/23: Standing with the Spouses of Ministers of the Gospel

“9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
— Colossians 1:9-14

The spouse of a minister usually is the back of the success of the ministry. Most often they have been undermined by the church. Some are disrespected, despised, talked about etc. Sometimes these are the people that make church run smoothly by working behind the scene. As intercessors we must carry them before the Lord and support them in the place of prayer. They need to be encouraged to stand strong in the work of God.

Pray for them, that God will fill them with wisdom, knowledge and understanding to support the work of God in the church. James 1:

5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.”

Pray that God will strengthen them both physically and spiritually.

Pray that the grace of God will rest upon them as they continue to support the work of God.

Ephesians 5:23-24 “23 because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives are to submit to their husbands in everything.”

Pray that God will protect their marriage from the hands of the wicked. Pray for submission to God and not man.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Pray that in the mist of it all they will trust God in every step to guide and direct them into what God wants to accomplish through them.

2 Thessalonians 3:3But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”

Pray that the Lord will strengthen their walk with God, their marriage and home, children and family as we as protect them from every evil.

Ephesians 6: 10-11 “10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Pray that they will be encouraged to stand on the word and power of God. Pray that they put on God armor so they are ready to stand against any scheme of the enemy.

1 Corinthians 12 “4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”

Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them in finding what gifts are and how best they can support the church.

Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. “

Pray that Gd will surely supply all their needs

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “ 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Pray that the Love of God will consume their hearts in everything they do.
