Every true believer in Christ is a light and has been commanded to shine into the world and bring salvation to the perishing souls. However, we have these special people called missionaries who have taken an extra step.
Genesis 12:1-3 “1The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Just as the Lord call Abram to a place where he physically has no business being there, that is how God calls missionaries. It is left on them to say yes or no. Pray that more Christians will answer this call .
2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
Pray for sufficient grace for the missionaries. They go through a lot; leaving families behind or taking them to new places where they have to adjust and adapt to the cultures and conditions. Sometimes finances can be a real problem. Some have lost property and families just because they are missionaries.
Romans 10:13-15 “13 for Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Every human being on the surface of the earth has a right to hear the word of God. How precious it is that some people have given up everything to ensure that these people have an opportunity to hear the word of God. For someone to hear the word, somebody must be there to tell them and that person is called, sanctified and sent to the world.
The word of God has power to convict, change and transform. Pray that as they hear the word, it will penetrate the heart and convict the hearer as well as bringing them to the place of repentance.
Daniel 10:19 “Do not be afraid, you who are highly precious," he said. "Peace be with you! Be strong now; be very strong!" As he spoke with me, I was strengthened and said, "Speak, my lord, for you have strengthened me."
Pray that the Lord himself will give them peace and strengthen them spiritually and physically.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Pray that the Spirit of truth will reveal this scripture to every missionary. The heart of love is the heart that God wants to see in the field. Pray that this kind of love will fill their hearts so that they will intend on offer that love to the world.
Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Pray that their daily life will be filled with love just like Jesus loved.
Luke 10:2 “And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Pray that the church will answer this call so we can have more missionaries in the fields.
Exodus 4:11-12 “The Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.”
Jonah 1:1-4” 1 The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”3 But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord. 4 Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.”
Pray for the grace to answer the call and go instead of taking the unwanted path like Jonah.
Isaiah 54: 17 “no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me," declares the Lord.”
Psalm 17: 8-10 “8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings 9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. 10 They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.”
Pray for the canopy of the Lord to protect them and their families. Pray that God will hide them under his wings.
2Peter 1:3 “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.”
Pray that whenever their needs are, God who called them will provide all this needs.
Psalm 107:1-3 “ 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, 3 those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.”
Thank God for every missionary on the surface of the earth.
