Day 7: Lifting up the Hand of the Church and Ministers of the Gospel

The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.”
— Exodus 17:8-13

In this modern day, even the atheist can tell that the church has some issues.  Most of these problems are caused by the same church people who have allowed themselves to be used as doors  for the enemy to come into the church. God paid a very high price to purchase the church- The blood of his ONLY SON JESUS Christ.

Acts 20:28”Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”

The enemy is at war with the church and we know that Jesus’s blood is still alive, active and speaking better things. We must arise in the place of prayer and challenge all these forces of evil.

Matthew 11:12 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”

We must rise up like in the days of Moses when the Amalekites rose up against the Israelites. Moses did not just watch, talk, gossip or go on social media to gain fame, instead, he took action and went up to the place of prayer with the rod of the Lord. Moses had to take along Aaron and Hur. It is time for the church to arise and stand in unity on the mountain of the Lord and lift up our hands to God who is our helper. The rod of God is the authority which has been given to us; Luke 10:19 “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

So far as Moses’s hands were lifted up, the Israelites were winning. We must all gather strength in the presence of God to join hands and pray for the restoration of principles in the ministering of the word of God. God is not going to bring the transformation of the church. We have been given the authority to do so in the place of prayer. There is so much pollution and misrepresentation of the word of God. We can hold ministries/ ministers at the place of prayer. The devil has trained and distributed his own disciples who are in our midst leading the people to hell.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 “ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.”

Prayer Points

The word of God is the power given to the church with the capacity to bring life, change, and transform lives. Pray for the grace to teach the  real word which has the qualities as described here.

Hebrew 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Pray that this very basic principle of knowing and teaching the word  consumes the church again.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 “These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts.  And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Pray that the church will arise and make this verse a reality, as we need to guide against infiltration of falsehood in the church.

Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in all you do.”

2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”

The word of God is very clear about the call of the five fold ministry- equip and build the body until there is unity, knowledge, and maturity in Christ. Pray for the grace and revelation of this assignment and the desire to focus on God’s work.

Ephesians 4:11-13 “And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

Pray that ministers of the gospel will give themselves to the word and pray. That is the only way they will be able to build themselves to equip the church.

Acts 6:4 “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”

2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

Pray and declare this prayer over the church and ministers of the gospel

Colossians 1:9-12  “For this reason, since the day we heard about you,we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”

Pray that the love of Christ will consume the church again.

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Pray for the wisdom and an understanding mind to guide all ministers of the gospel as they lead the flock. Pray for the spirit of discernment.

James 1:5-6  “If any of you lacks Wisdom you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

1 Kings 3:9 “Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

There are so many gifts that God has given the church to be used for building and blessing the church. However, a lack of understanding on how this operates, has lead to misunderstanding and sometimes manipulation, leaving people to wonder if gifts exist. Pray that the Holy Spirit will come to the rescue of the church. Pray for revelation, understanding, and acceptance of the gifts. Pray that God will raise men with wisdom to teach this in the church.

Corinthians 12:28 “And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.”

1 Peter 4:10-11 “As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another. If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”

Pray against the spirit of division and ask God to restore unity in the church and among ministers of the gospel.

1 Corinthians 12:25-25 “so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”

Pray that ministers of the gospel will receive the grace to stand strong and not be moved even in the middle of the storm, and also give themselves fully to the work God has called them into, having the assurance that God who called them is faithful.

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold unswervingly to the hopewe profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

Pray for revelation and anointing to preach the true word of God. Pray for boldness even in the midst of resistance. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give the ministers the right words to declare God’s mysteries.

John 17:17 “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”

2 Timothy 4:2  “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

Acts 20:27-28 “For I did not shrink back from declaring to you the whole will of God.

Ephesians 6:19-20 “Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will boldly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it fearlessly, as I should.”

The church belongs to God. Here there is an appeal to ministers of the gospel- take care of the sheep. In fact sometimes, this has really gone wrong with ministers taking advantage of the sheep instead; eating the sheep, manipulating the sheep, destroying the sheep instead, in so many ways. Yet, we know there still remind God’s remnants in the Lord. Therefore, for the grace to take care not because they must but because they are willing as required by God.

Acts 20:28 “Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.”

1 Peter 5:1-4 “To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”

Pray and declare this prayer over the ministers of the gospel

Ephesians 1:17-21 “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.”

Pray for the church to understand the grace to minister to the ministers

Philippians 4:18 “I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.”

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 “ We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”

Pray for the grace to recognize and reject false prophets

Matthew 7:15-20 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.”

Pray that the light of God exposes all these false shepherds. Pray that their wickedness must come to an end.

Ezekiel 34: 1-4 “1The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Ah, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding yourselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep? You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat ones, but you do not feed the sheep. The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the injured you have not bound up, the strayed you have not brought back, the lost you have not sought, and with force and harshness you have ruled them.”

Day 6: The Power of Agreement at the Prayer Altar

Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
— Mathew 18:18-20

Years ago as a young girl growing around my grandmother, I observed that while we were on the farm with her, she demonstrated how to farm physically as well as repeated  the method verbally several times during the whole time we were on the farm. We used to get upset with grandma because we often assumed she thought we knew nothing.  So, each time grandma was not on the farm, we repeated her words and laughed about it. However, looking back, I think what she was doing was ensuring that we grasp the process very well.

When I look at God’s word,  I see the same kind of repetition. I just love the word of God, the way he presents the word to draw our attention just in case we don’t seem to get it the first time. In Mathew 18: 18-19, He says, ‘Truly,’ then says again ‘Truly’ placing an emphasis on what he is trying to communicate to us just in case we made an attempt to miss it.

Let us look at four words from Mathew 8:18-20

1. Truly: God is truth- Truth, trusted, confident in, tested and found to be reliable and trustworthy.

2. Bind- standing to declare it will not happen- meaning we forbid it from coming to pass

3. Loose-standing to declare that it will happen- meaning we allow this to come to pass

4. Agree- in one accord, speaking with one voice, making the same statement and declaring that we all are in agreement.

We, the church are standing in agreement on the truth of God’s word to bind anything/systems/spirits that is standing in our way. We are declaring that whatever it is, that is against us, it will not come to pass. We are also standing on the truth of God’s word against anything anywhere/anyhow/what/who/spirits that has held us captive, declaring they must loose us and let us go free. In all our standing, it’s upon the will of God being established in the circumstances of our lives.

Today our focus is on the list we were asked to put together at the beginning of the prayer/ fasting. For those who sent the three important prayer points, I believe most of your points may be similar with  those who did not send their prayer points. If you go through any that does not apply to you, still pray so we will all be interceding for somebody.

As we come to God, we come believing that he hears prayers as we ask in accordance with his will.

1 John 5:14-15 “1This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

Presenting ourselves before God with our list today, will not only be because we are in a season of prayer/fasting or that we have the words to say. It is  about how we will trust the Holy Spirit who knows the mind of the father to help us. Romans 8:26 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

It is important to remember that  even though the prayer of the righteous can move a mountain, unforgiveness can hinder our entrance into God’s presence. We should search our hearts and let go of the past in whatever way we have been hurt.

James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”

I believe that you have  trusted this altar to have joined us in the place of prayer. God has visited us here countless times and I know this season is very special and so I declare: 2 Chronicles 6:21 “Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.”

Prayer points

1 Chronicles 28:9 “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.”

Praying against family curses/altars of divorce, no marriage, poverty, suffering, family ties and household witchcraft etc. By the completed work on the cross we have been made into a new man upon a new covenant  and altar. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.”

Pray for our children that they will know the Lord, they will walk with God, they will serve God and influence their generation for Jesus.  Pray that God himself will pull them to himself and teach them his ways. Pray that they be established in the house of God. Pray that they be protected from danger. Pray against all kinds of addictions and behaviors. Pray that every prodigal child comes to their senses and returns back to Jesus and their family.

Luke 15 17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.”

Pray for healing for the sick both physically, spiritually and emotionally. There are many people drained out and don’t know what to do. Pray for restoration of whatever has been lost; peace, joy, hope etc.

Isaiah 57:18-19: "I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel's mourners, creating praise on their lips. Peace, peace, to those far and near,' says the Lord, 'And I will heal them'".

Salvation for children, friends, families, co workers etc. There is only one way through which people can be saved. It is not church attendance, religion, kindness etc. It is only by a name called Jesus. This is the only legal way approved by God. Pray for these loved ones to be saved.

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
