Day 6: Contending for the Marriage Covenant

“6 But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ 7 ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. 9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”

— Mark 10:6-9

The institution of marriage was never and will never be man’s agenda. The reason why many marriages have not worked has been because man has viewed it with a human concept.

From creation, God created a male and a female or more so a man and a woman. He did not create a camouflage to look like and become like each other. It was as clear and day and night: Male and female. For marriage to occur, a man/male leaves his family and takes the woman/female and both of them becomes husband and wife. This is the only heavenly legal authority given by God in marriage. Only a man and a woman qualifies to get married ie; physically and spiritually matured individuals. Today we see boys and girls (immature people) getting married and we wonder why there is so many divorces.

Ask God for mercy and forgiveness of the sin committed through the misinterpreting and abuse of God’s word regarding marriage.

Pray that the word of God will be reinforced in the church.

Pray that the altar upon which God places this word for marriage will not be defiled.

Pray against all the strange and unauthorized fires and sacrifices that have been offered on the secret and Holy altar.

Pray that God will glue marriages together according to his word and break the power of the enemy that constantly attempts to scatter them.

Pray that God will grant grace for the covenant of marriages to be honored

Pray for those waiting on the Lord for marriage to cone to this same understanding.

Pray that God will grant help to church leaders and spiritual councilors to gain knowledge, wisdom, and sound Godly doctrine to help young couples entering into marriage.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Marriage is a covenant relationship between a man and a woman with God in the middle. God is the center of gravity, he holds them together no matter what. Pray that couples will put God as center in every aspect of their marriage.

Genesis 1:27-28 “27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earthand subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

God created us in his image and marriage represents a picture of how God views us as family. Jesus has a good relationship with his father and because he dwells in us he expects marriage to reflect that same image of the father and the Love of the father and son. Pray that couples will come to the understanding of this revelation so that they can strengthen the bond of marriage.

Deuteronomy 6:6 “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. “

The word of God is the spiritual glue that hold marriage together. The word of God is a command to be obeyed and walk in it. If we divert, we face the consequences. It has to be written on the tablets of our hearts for it to be spoken on our lips. Pray for the grace to obey and walk in the word of God.

1 Peter 3:7 “Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

Pray for the revelation of this scripture so that husbands may apply to their wives.

Proverbs 12:4 “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.”

Pray for the grace of excellence upon wives so that they will not bring shame into their marriages.

Proverbs 14:1 “The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.”

Pray for Godly wisdom for wives and the grace to build their homes and not tear them down.

Ephesians 4:2 “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”

1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

God demonstrated his love towards us by sending his son (John 3:16), therefore we husband and wife must be ready to lay down their lives and love each other for what God has done not for what each of them are to each other. Jesus walked in Love because he was humbled, gentle and patience. Pray that the revelation of the humility, gentleness, patience and the love of God will consume the hearts of husbands and wives, so that their love for each other will grow without measure.

1 Corinthians 1:10 “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”

Pray for the spirit of unity in marriages. Most often there are disagreements in raising children, relationships with extended families and friends, financial responsibilities, spirituality etc. All these brings the devil into sowing seeds that can create serious tension and problems.

Malachi 2:16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the Lord, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.”

When there is no unity, it’s become ease for love to fade away thereby creating space the devil to occupy. One of such occupation leads to divorce. This creates’ lots of physical, emotional, spiritual, financial crisis in the family, ministry etc. We must pray against and not tolerate this evil spirit call divorce. We must fight like in the days of John the Baptist. We must resist the devil of divorce.

Genesis 30:22-24 “22 Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb. 23 She conceived and bore a son and said, “God has taken away my reproach.” 24 And she called his name Joseph, saying, “May the Lord add to me another son!”

We serve a God who never forgets his own. He remembers the cry in the hearts of his people and decorate them with testimonies. Pray for marriages expecting the blessing of children that God remember them, listen to their cry and open the wombs of the wives. Pray that God will take away their reproach and give them new songs so that their neighbors will celebrate with them.

Hebrew 13:4 “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

Pray for the grace to honor and respect the marriage covenant so that the marriage will not be exposed to adultery or other sexual sin, thereby allowing the enemy to bring shame and disgrace.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”

Pray that marriages will focus on the good that they see in each other through the Love of Christ and therefore support each other’s in their weakness and strength.

Isaiah 54:10 “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you."

Pray that the love, covenant of peace and compassion of the Lord in marriage will never be broken.

Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.”

Stand on this word to dismantle every weapon of the enemy ( divorce, infidelity, abuse, wickedness, self centeredness, witchcraft, jealousy etc ) that attend marriage. Condemn every tongue of evil and jealous friends, families, evil declarations on demonic altars etc.

Psalm 69:1-4 “1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. 4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.”

There are so many marriages going through what the Bible outlines here in psalm 69:1-4. Pray that God will arise, hear their cry and save their marriages from any form of demonic, wickedness, and witchcraft attack.

Proverbs 6:16-19 “16 There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: 17  haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18  a heart that devises wicked plans,

feet that make haste to run to evil,

19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”

There are some wicked people in the communities who have taken an oath with the devil to ensure that they bring this kind of wickedness in marriages they are jealous of. Pray that the wrath of God will never spare them.

Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.”

Pray for our singles waiting on God for marriage that God will cause them to locate each other as a husband and wife. Pray that a husband will always via the wife as a good thing.

Psalm 33:20-22 “20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.”

Pray for those waiting on God for God to restore their marriages or for those trusting God to get married. Pray that God will remember every need even as they trust him in this season of prayer and fasting.

Day 5: Securing the Destinies of our Children

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

— Jeremiah 29:11

God has a plan prepared for our children; a good plan, a future and a hope. We must not allow the lies of the enemy to take our eyes off this plan. Irrespective of what we experience or see in the lives of our children, we must NEVER stop or grow weary in praying this plan to come to pass.

Ask God to open our eyes to see and understand the plan he has for our children.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Therefore, know that everything must work for good. Pray that everything that comes in the path of our children must work for good to sharp them become that which God wants.

Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Pray that the word of God will be manifested in the lives of our children, it must not return to him void but every purpose of Hod must come to pass successfully.

According to Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” the purpose for which Jeremiah existed was known and fulfilled. We have to pray that as parents, mentors, guardians etc, we will trust God to reveal to us the calling in the lives of our children. It is imperative so that we can continue to declare God’s word in their lives.

Proverbs 19:20 “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.”

Today, it is evident where our children get instructions and inspiration; definitely not from the word of God, rarely from parents or love ones. They are driven by the technology controlled by demons. We must pray for them, that the Spirit of God will arrest their hearts and cause that they will listen to Godly advice and instructions which is the tool needed for gaining Godly wisdom.

Isaiah 54:13-14 “13 And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. 14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.”

Pray that God will arise by his Holy Spirit and teach our children his ways of salvation, holiness, truth and spiritual living. Pray that God will establish his peace and righteousness in their lives. Pray that they will not see the calamity that the world brings. Pray against any form of fear. Pray that the terror of the day and night will never come near them.

1 John 2: 15-17 “15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world.17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

Pray that God will open the eyes of the minds of our children to the revelation in this 1 John 2:15-17. We cannot pretend to Love God as well as love what he hates.

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Pray that the Spirit of the Lord will help our children to love God to the point that they minds will be controlled by the Spirit of God and not of the world.

Acts 2:39 “This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off--to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself."

The promise of salvation and the blessings of the Lord is for us and our children. Pray for them, that they will not miss these blessings.

Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

Declare war against the weapon( degree, Shame, failure, self esteem, lack of confidence, disobedience, disrespect, drugs, Alcohol, sexual immorality of all kinds, lies, stealing, etc) of the enemy in every aspect of their lives ( education, calling, marriage, career etc) refute every tongue ( liars, witchcraft, jealousy, hatred, pain, degree etc of the wicked.

Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Proverbs 20:24 “A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?”

Pray that ONLY the purpose of God will prevail over the lives of our children. Pray that God will direct their steps.

Colossians 1:16 “For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.”

God is the creator of the heaven and earth. It’s only through Jesus Christ that everything has been created and only through him can we access our blessings, therefore pray that our children will come into this revelation.

Isaiah 65:23 “They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them.”

As parents, grandparents, mentors, friends and family, we cannot labor in vain according to the word of God in bringing up these children. Pray that they will never bring misfortune, shame, disgrace etc but the blessings of the Lord.

Job 42:2 “I know that You can do all things; no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” Psalm 31:15

“My times are in Your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.”

The Lord can do all things even delivering our children from evil plans. Pray that his purpose for our children shall not be diverted. Pray that his mighty hand shall deliver our children from the enemy that is pursuing them.

Job 36:10 “He makes them listen to correction and commands them to repent of their evil.”

Pray that God will give our children listening ears so they can follow corrections and repent from their evil ways.

Isaiah 46:10-11 “10 I make known the end from the beginning and from ancient times, what is still to come,’ I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. 11 From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.”

Acts 2:17 “ In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

Declare that this word will become a reality in the lives of our children in Jesus mighty name.

Finally, Our God is all powerful and mighty, full of wisdom and everything you can imagine. His word, plan/purpose cannot fail. What ever he has said about our children shall come to pass. Declare it so over our children in the name of Jesus. God knows the beginning to the end of every matter, pray that only his counsel shall stand and his purpose in our children’s lives shall come to pass in Jesus mighty name.
