Day 7: Standing with the Persecuted Church

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you
— Matthew 5:10-12

2 Timothy 3:12In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

  • So interesting how those who walk in freedom take it for granted very often and are very reluctant with the work of God; while those who are being mistreated continue to stand strong despite their circumstances. Persecution is part of Christianity according to 2 Timothy 3:12, if you have not yet suffered, be grateful but be ready. This is the area of the church that needs lots of support both material and spiritual

Matthew 5:10-12Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

  • Declare this blessing over the persecuted believers in the name of Jesus.

Revelation 2:10Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

  • Pray for that God will grant grace to remind faithful despite the suffering

Acts 14:22Strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God."

  • Pray for strength and the daily word of encouragement from the Lord

1 Peter 4:16Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.”

  • Pray that as they suffer, they will allow the glory of God to shine through them, shame will not shine.

Romans 8:35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?”

  • Pray that God will grant them grace to remember that God’s love for them is stronger than their suffering

Matthew 5:44But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

  • Pray that the love of God in their hearts will flow into those persecuting them so that they will be able to have a heart to forgive and pray for their persecutors.

Colossians 1:9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.”

  • Pray that God will continue to fill them with knowledge, wisdom and understanding of His word so that they may spread His word right.

2 Thessalonians 1:11To this end, we always pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of His calling, and that He will powerfully fulfill your every good desire and work of faith.”

  • Pray that God will always count them worthy of His call, and will fill them with every good that they desire as they do the work of God.

Philippians 4:19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

  • Pray that God will provider for them in every aspect of their lives.

Psalm 119:76May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.”

  • Pray that God’s love will comfort them.

Philippians 1:14And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the LORD and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.”

  • Pray that God will grant the grace to continuously declare the word of God without fear.

  • Thank God for hearing our cry. Thank you for praying.
