Day 5: "Oh America! Return to Your First Love."

But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love. Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen. Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place

— Revelation 2:4-5

God is love and because that is his character, he easily gives love as it was also easy for him to send his one and only son to the cross of Calvary for the sinner man. Man has a problem of giving love, even when a person expresses love to someone, most often it is conditional and that is why we find a lot of broken relationships around us. In Revelation 2 above, God is still standing on his side of the bargain, and calling man to come back to the love table from where man has fallen. God is really good. Else, why will he even bother? He is a keeper of his word. The reason why a man falls away is because man has all these self-centered, selfish, and self-seeking ways. As in Revelation 2: 14-16 “But I have a few things against you, because some of you hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block before the Israelites so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. In the same way, some of you also hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans Therefore repent! Otherwise I will come to you shortly and wage war against them with the sword of My mouth”. It is only because of our self-seeking tendencies, that push us into ungodly paths.  God bought the church with his blood and thus he owns the church. Why should we the church follow other teachings that are not biblical? Additionally, people do not even take time to read/study the word for themselves and thus anything they hear goes. The church in America has fallen from grace and we must pray for its restoration.  Generally, if we focus on Jeremiah 5:7 “"Why should I forgive you? Your children have forsaken Me and sworn by gods that are not gods. I satisfied their needs, yet they committed adultery and assembled at the houses of prostitutes”, there will be no need or way for God to forgive but the truth is if there is someone standing in the gap praying, then there is the creator of heaven and earth who is able to hear and answer prayers. The church in America is entering a dangerous era as noted in Jeremiah 13:26-27 “26So I will pull your skirts up over your face, that your shame may be seen. 27Your adulteries and lustful neighings, your shameless prostitution on the hills and in the fields— I have seen your detestable acts. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will you remain unclean?”  where God will expose and judge the church.

So far as there is a kneeing intercessor, there is a prayer answering God.”

1.      Pray that the church in America will come to the place of understanding and revelation, acknowledge their sin, be ashamed of it and turn to God in true repentance. Jeremiah 31:19 “19 After I strayed, I repented; after I came to understand, I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.” . Act 3: 19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord”.

2.      Pray for true acknowledgement of sin and repentance without which we will continue to go in cycles. The only kind of repentance that leads to real relationship with the father is when we truly see our sin for what it is: 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 “9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us.10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”

3.       Pray that the church in America will go through  a Saul experience in Acts 9:3-4 “3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” so that they can come back from where they have wandered to: 2 Peter 2:15 “They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness.”

4.       Proclaim through your intercessory prayers what the Lord is saying to his church- that the church should remember when they were in a true love relationship with God. Jeremiah 2:2 "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem that this is what the LORD says: 'I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed Me in the wilderness, in a land not sown”.

5.       Pray that the church in America will arise, come to the place of repentance, and for the blood of Jesus to wash the evil in its heart, so it may serve God as expected by God alone. It is only at the place of repentance where the blood of Jesus is effective in cleansing a life: Jeremiah 4:14 “Wash the evil from your heart, O Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts within you?

6.       The church heard the gospel but has fallen. Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring to remembrance, the word of God that tells us how to walk in righteousness, holiness, love, humility, etc: Revelation 3:3 “3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”

7.       Pray for the ministers of the gospel in America. Pray that they will preach the word of God, be ready irrespective of the season, avoid being entangled into any political drama: 2 Timothy 2: 1-2 “1I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom: 2Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction”.

8.     Hate what God hates and pray against it: Proverbs 6:16-19 “16There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community”

a)      Pray that America will repent from shedding innocent blood. This Land has a lot of innocent blood in their hands, yet see what the Lord says in Proverbs 6: 17 above. Deuteronomy 19:10 “Thus innocent blood will not be shed in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.”

b)       Lying is an abomination before God. You see the politicians stand on the TV that is watched by the whole world and tell lies very easily. We must stand against the spirit of lies and arrogance and seal every mouth that lies:  Psalm 31:18 “May lying lips be silenced--lips that speak with arrogance against the righteous, full of pride and contempt”. Proverbs 12:22”Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

c)        We must ask for the wrath of God against slanders: Psalm 101:5 “Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; the one with haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not endure”.

9. Pray for all those in leadership in the church and public offices. Pray for the president and his team: 1 Timothy 2:1-2 “2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness”

10. Pray for the prosperity of America. You live here. It is very important that America prospers as that will affect you as well. Ask the Lord to give you a burden for America.  Jeremiah 29:7 “Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will prosper."

Day 4: Asking the Lord for Nations and Leaders

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession
— Psalm 2:8

Psalms 2: 1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” 7 I will proclaim the LORD’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron ; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

How will you feel when you find out that those whom you have trusted and loved in life plot evil against you and yet they are laughing with you in your face? Imagine that they take it further and bring you to court over a crime that you have not committed, and together they make a lie look true in everyone’s eyes? They plot this wickedness against you in a court case. Such instances are so real and those involved often care less so far as their ego is satisfied.

Analyzing what is happening in Psalm 2 above; one can see the presentation of the real picture of the way the nations and their leaders relate to God. It is very scary to imagine this evil way of thinking. The nations are colluding together in their wickedness against the God of their creation. They are refusing to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ on earth- God’s anointed one and son. God is smiling because he knows they are making a fool of themselves. God is standing on his word to declare on the earth that though the nations and their leaders are gathering against me, I the Lord have made Jesus Christ my son the king over the nations and given the nations to him as his possession to rule and judge the nations and their leaders. God has given Jesus Christ the nations as an inheritance as we see in Revelation  11:15 “Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”

Thus if  we are for God and standing with Christ, WE MUST STAND in the place of prayer with Christ to take over the nations as our inheritance as well and declare that Jesus must reign on this earth. We MUST pray until the scripture is fulfilled. This is real spiritual battle because satan and his gang wants it too.

1.       Pray that as intercessors we will walk in obedience. Abraham walked in obedience and the nations were blessed through him. For God to move through us and hear us so the earth can be delivered, we must be walking in obedience of his word: In Genesis 22:18 – “..and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

2.       The house of God is the place where believers are called to pray and nothing else. As building blocks we must pray without ceasing. There is no short or long break, if the glory of God must be revealed in the nations.  Pray that as an intercessor God will make you into a prayer machine for his glory and nothing else: Mark 11:17 “And as He taught them, He said, ‘Is it not written: “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations“? …'” (Isaiah 56:7)

3.       Pray for the revelation of God’s word upon the hearts of the leaders of the earth, that they may come to their senses, fear the Lord and serve him only: Psalm 2: 10-11 “10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.”

4.       Declare this word so the devil knows that you know who is in charge of the nations of the earth: 1 Chronicles 29:11 “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all”

5.       Pray against the enemy that stands against this great salvation of the nations: Revelation 12:10 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

6.       Call on the Lord to arise in judgement against the wicked and their wickedness on the earth. There are some people, leaders or whatever you want to call them that need to die for others to gain deliverance. There are some people that will never repent so do not waste prayers and time on them. Those detained for the sword should go. Psalm 7:9 “Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds. Revelation 2:23 “Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

7.       Pray  for this God’s word to be made manifest upon the earth so that kings will bow and nations will serve God. Psalm 72:11 – “All kings will bow down to him and all nations will serve him.” When kings bow and nation serve God, the fear of God will be established. Psalm 102:15 – “The nations will fear the name of the LORD; all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.”

8.       Pray that the nations of the earth will open up for the Gospel of peace: Matthew 24:14 – “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

9.       Pray that the nations of the earth will  come to surrender to the name of Jesus and every tongue will begin to confess that Jesus is Lord: Philippians 2:10, 11 – “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Romans 16:26 – “..but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him”

10.   It takes devotion, persistency, and consistence in the place of prayer to break through the wicked forces of the earth. Ask the Lord for a violent spirit. There is no way a nation will become righteous without a fight. Righteousness is good for the nation so that there can be peace but not without a price.  Mathew 11:12 “12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subject to violence, and the violent lay claim to it.”  Proverbs 14:34  “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.”

11.   Because the nations are God’s inheritance, pray that God will give the people of the nations’ hearts to know him and to turn to him in repentance: Jeremiah 24:7 “I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD. They will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with all their heart”.

12.   Pray that mockers of God in the nations must repent or face the wrath of God: 2 Chronicles 36:16 “But they mocked the messengers of God, despising His words and scoffing at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD against His people was stirred up beyond remedy”.

13.   There are many Isaiah(s) hidden in the nations awaiting the death of King (s) called Uzziah. Pray that the  spirit of death will  go the nations of the earth and bring them to their graves:  Isaiah 6:1 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted; and the train of His robe filled the temple”

14.   Finally, there is hope, declare that we will see the manifestation of these verses on the earth:

Daniel 7:14 “And He was given dominion, glory, and kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”

Revelation 7:9 – “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.”
