2023 Retreat Preparatory Prayers - Day 18: Offering our Children as a Sacrifice to God

“Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship”
— Romans 12:1

Our offering to God today is for our children. We must bring them before the almighty God and place them at the prayer altar, until the Holy Spirit completes his work in them.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” This is the identity of every child of God- God’s work of arts where He uses to display his glory. Pray that our children will allow God to use them as commercial for his glory.

Luke 2:40 “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.” 1 Samuel 2:26 “And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with man.” Pray that our children will grow strong in the spirit of God, filled with wisdom and grace, as well as find favor with God and man.

Jeremiah 24:7 “I will give them a heart to know that I am the LORD, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart” God is the creator and he knows how he created the heart of man. Pray that he will give our children a heart to know He is God so that with their whole heart they will surrender to him alone.

Psalms 91:14-15 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Pray that the good Lord will guide, protect, and rescue our children from the hands of the enemy. Pray that when they called on the Lord, He will hear and answer them.

Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” The word of God is very powerful and cannot be altered. Some of our children are very disrespectful. Pray for the grace of God upon them, to help them live according to God’s word.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Pray that only the purpose of God for our Children will come to pass. Every other thing must be burnt down by the fire of God.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 “4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Pray against any demonic strong holds preventing our children from walking in Christ and fulfilling that which God has for them. We have the authority to use the word of God to bring down every stronghold over every aspect of the lives of our children. By the authority of God’s word, declare destruction over every argument, thought, action, decision, direction, behaviors in the lives of our children that wants to stand against the word of God.

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” There is a lot in our communities that can influence the lives of our children. Pray against such elements of temptation like drugs, alcohol, and sexual sin of all sorts. Pray that God will grant the grace of purity over our children.

Proverbs 3:1-2 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.” Pray that our children will keep the word of God they have been thought in their hearts, so that they are able to experience the blessing of long life, peace and prosperity in every aspect of their lives.
