Day 13: Contending for the End Time Intercessors

“11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.”
— John 17:11-12
“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
— Romans 8:34

We can all testify that the days are becoming more and more darken with wickedness at its peak. Intercessors are needed to seek God’s mercy and grace on behalf of the people.

Jesus in John 17 gives us a picture of what it means; understanding the situation by revelation and carrying the burden by prayers. Even after his resurrection Jesus is still praying for us as we see in Romans 8:34.

Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

Pray that the same Spirit of God who raise Jesus from the dead will raise every intercessor who has been dead in the call to pray back to life so they are able to carry the burden of God.

Romans 8:26-27 “26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”

Pray for help and reliance on the Holy Spirit. No body can pray genuinely by themselves without the help from the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 18:22-25 “22 The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

Abraham stood in the gap for Sodom and Gomorrah when God went in to destroy the Land. An intercessor must be selfless, loving, humbled, bold, kind hearted and ready to take a difficult task and keep standing before God.

Pray that God will raise intercessors like Abraham in these last and dark days.

1 Samuel 12:23 “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.”

Samuel living in his days where the people had fallen from grace, stood in the gap continuously for God’s mercy, hoping the people will repent. Pray that God will raise intercessors like Samuel who will not get tied of praying.

Ephesians 6:18 “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.”

Intercessors must be sensitive in the spirit and be ready to pray all the time. Pray that the grace of God will be sufficient to this call.

John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

Pray for a total dependence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pray for a teachable spirit among intercessors.

Isaiah 59:16 “He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him.”

Pray that God will not be looking forward r anyone in your community because you are there. Also, ask God to help you be available, dependable, and reliable intercessor.

Ephesians 6:19-2 “19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”

The Apostle Paul as an intercessor himself understood the need for this kind of prayer. In today’s world the word of God has been challenged with all sorts of things. Pray that intercessors will continue to see the need and answer the call to pray for ministers of the gospel so that they are able to communicate fearlessly and with with boldness the mystery of the gospel without sugar coding the word of God.

Job 42:8 “So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”

Psalms 122:6-7 “6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”

Romans 10:1 “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.”

1 Timothy 2:1-2 “1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Reviewing the different Bible verses above, one can see that Intercessory prayers covers prayers in different sectors; friends, (sometimes even those who have hurt you), families, church, nations, leaders, etc God may be calling intercessors in a single or multiple sectors. Pray that intercessors will open their minds to hid the direction God wants for them in the place of prayer. Pray that they are able to discern, as well as be humbled enough to pray.

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The Apostles received power to do the work of the ministry when the Holy Spirit came upon them. Pray that every intercessor will be visited by the same power of the Holy Spirit in these last days.

In the next two days; October 26, the church will gather to intercede, pray for the following:

The Holy Spirit will visit us as in the day of Pentecost, pray for Flesh fire upon the gathering.

Unity in God’s presence and prayer

1 Corinthians 1:10 “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”

As we pray together, we will bind every spirit that has come against the church and the work of God. We will loose and set free every captive, we will stand in agreement to stand strong and work together as the body of Christ for we know that God is in our mist and will hear us.

Matthew 18:18-20 “18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Pray for mercy and the grace of God to overwhelm the church.

Zachariah 12:10 “ And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”

Pray that that every dry and thrifty ground in our hearts will be refreshed.

Isaiah 44: 3 “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and currents on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.”

Pray for divine visitation and transformation.

Jeremiah 31;9 “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.”
