Day 8: Contending with Hindering spirits of the Church

The goal of our prayer today is not to bring out all these spirits but to shine the light on some for the sake of time.

1. The spirit of Religion and Manipulation. This has taken different forms such as pride, selfishness and self centeredness, control etc.

“1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh.”
— Galatians 3:1-3
“20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.”
— Colossians 2:20-23Quote Source

It is very visible today that the church has shifted from the truth and only focused on prophesies, prosperity and seed sowing to get instant riches. In as much as these are biblical, these have been taken out of context and minds of believers not grounded in the word of God have been manipulated to agree with such teachings and ideology.

A good question is asked here: who has bewitched you? Did you receive the Spirit by works? How foolish has the church become. We got born again by the spirit of the Lord and have been taken over by the spirit of religion- traditions of men- man made stuff.

We must pray that the light of Christ will shine over the darkness that has covered our eyes of understanding. Ephesians 4:18 “They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.”

James 1: 26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.”

We must pray against the religious spirit of gossip and slander. You find people that have no biblical knowledge but quote scriptures to back up their wickedness; gossiping and slandering ministers of the gospel, friends and families.

2. The spirit of Jezebel and seduction

The spirit of Jezebel is an embodiment of different forms of evil. This spirit intimidates people to get what it wants. This was the spirit that brought Baal worship to Israel, intimated and killed Prophets, attempted to kill Elijah ( (I Kings 18:19–19:3).

seized Naboth’s land (1 Kings 21)

Pray that God gives us spirit eyes to descend this evil and run.

The spirit of wickedness: 1 Kings 21:25 “There was never anyone like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the LORD, urged on by Jezebel his wife.”

The spirit of idolatry and witchcraft: 2 Kings 9:22 “When Joram saw Jehu he asked, “Have you come in peace, Jehu?” “How can there be peace,” Jehu replied, “as long as all the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel abound?”

1 Kings 16: 31 “He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him.”

The church of God had brought calamity to itself because of the marriage with the world that does worship God, but serve Baal and worship him. Pray against this kind evil. The church must divorce the evil woman call Jezebel. The church must burn downs her altars of Baal. Call for the fire of God.

Revelation 2: 20 “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.”

This spirit is the spirit of false prophets, lies, and manipulation It works hand in hand with religion. It’s a spirit seduction into sexual immorality. The church must pray. Pray for revelation and understanding of this spirit in the church. Pray that the fire of God visit his church and burn down this evil.

Ephesians 5:3 “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”

We must declare war against this spirit that is destroying the true altars of worship.

The spirit that brings fear and death: 1 Kings 19:1-3 “1 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” 3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there.”

But the Only solution is to bring Jezebel to her grave-death. “He who lives by the sword dies by the sword”Mathew 26:52. 1Kings 19:15-17 “15 The LORD said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16 Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. 17 Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.”

2 Kings 9:30-33 “30 Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she put on eye makeup, arranged her hair and looked out of a window. 31 As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, “Have you come in peace, you Zimri, you murderer of your master?” 32 He looked up at the window and called out, “Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. 33 “Throw her down!” Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.”

2Kings 10: 11 “So Jehu killed everyone in Jezreel who remained of the house of Ahab, as well as all his chief men, his close friends and his priests, leaving him no survivor.”

Jehu was anointed by Elijah with the mission to kill Jezebel and the entire household of Ahab. The Lord Jesus has given to the church power and authority over every power of the devil- what have we done with it? The church must arise in the anointing just like Jehu and bring to death every element of Jezebel. Pray for this anointing in Jesus name.

The spirit of Jezebel brings fear and retaliation. We must ask God’s guidance when we are betrayed. 1 Peter 2:23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”

Although today there is worship of an idol, the church today still have things held dear before God. We must put them to death. Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.”

The practice of idolatry is similar to rebellion and arrogance that God views as rejection of his command. What has God ask you to do? Repent from any form of this evil. 1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”

Micah 2:1 “Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.”

Declare the judgement of God upon any form of evil planted at night time against the church, families, nations, ministers of the gospel.

Romans 10:1-3 “1 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.”

Pray for true repentance and revelation of the understanding of the word of God in the church. Pray that the church will be zealous for knowledge of God rather then a “man of God or woman of God”

Romans 1:18-20 “18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

We must know that God’s wrath will not spare any form of unrepentance. We must all come clear before God. Pray and ask Hod for mercy on the servants of God who have wondered away from the truth gospel and are now preaching man made stuff and the devil’s anointing.

Luke 2:36-37 “36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.”

To defeat these spirits, the church must come to the understanding of prayers that saturate the altar of the Lord day and night. The devil will not find expression in such places. Pray that the ministry of prayer will be restored in the church.

Isaiah 29:13 “The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.”

John 4:23-24 “23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spiritand in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Pray that the church will repent from lip worship and worship the Lord in spirit and truth for that is what God desire.

Day 7: A House of Prayer not Den of Robbers

“12Then Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. 13 It is written,” he said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.”

—  Mathew 21:12-14

We are the church, God’s temple, according to 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”

We were brought with a price. Therefore, whatever we do with our bodies matters to God. It is what we have in us as a temple that comes out when we gather in a physical location as God’s people or the church. The buying, selling, money changers and selling of doves all embodies the different activities that are carried out not permitted by God. The gospel is for sale today. We have all kinds of things going on. Sale of all kinds of spiritual things: water, oils, sowing seeds, deception of people through manipulation of scriptures and false doctrine and prophecies etc. Yet, the house of God has to be governed by prayer and of course and the word of God. The prayer offered in the temple has the power to open blind and cause the lame to walk. Those with spiritual limitations- blindness and lame-inability to walk in the spirit of truth are supposed to have their eyes open and strengthened by the power of prayer and the word of God when they come to church.

When God looks at us or the gathering at the physical place called church, what does he see? Pray for acknowledgment of our guilt , sin and repentance. Ask God to forgive his church/temple.

Ask that God will forgive the ministers of the gospel, especially those who have wondered off the truth. Pray that the Holy Spirit will convict ministers/ the church of sin and help the people come to a place of true repentance.

Pray for the cleansing of the church by the blood of the Lamb.

Pray that the fire of God will descend upon all these falsehood; money changers, those selling dove, those manipulating the people for the purposes of exploiting and enslavement.

2 Corinthians 6:16 “What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people."

As a church/temple representative, renounce every idolatry practices that been allowed to dwell in the church. Come acknowledgment of this kind of sin. Ask God for forgiveness. Our temples are created to carry the glory of God and manifest his power on the earth so that ordinary people may see and join the fellowship.

God that the will raise Godly men and women ministers with integrity to walk in respect, obedience of his word.

Pray for the remnants, those who have not sacrificed their temples. Pray Isaiah 51:16 “And I have put my words in your mouth and covered you in the shadow of my hand, establishing the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth, and saying to Zion, ‘You are my people.”

Isaiah 11:11 “In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.”

Pray that God will deliver his remnant , put his word and establish his house again as a place of prayer.

Colossians 2:8 “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

Pray that the eyes of the church be open so that no one will take us captive by false philosophy and deceit.

Joel 2:32 “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls.”

Only God can save us. Let us call upon God to redeem his people from this calamity of falsehood.

Acts 10:38 “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.”

Mathew 9:35 “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

Pray that the church will activate the anointing within them to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast our demons, feeding the poor, taking care of orphans and window according to the word of God.

Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to this message: Jesus of Nazareth was a man certified by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know.”

Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

If Jesus was certified by God and that same Spirit is with us, then the Spirit of God within the church is able to give us life again. Pray that that we will be revived in the place of prayer and the word.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”

Pray that the church will arise to its identity and proclaim the excellencies of God.

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Ephesians 6:18 “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.”

God is always ready to hear us. Ask for help. Ask God for the grace to pray. To take over the occupied territories in the church. We must embark on serious, all the time, all kinds of prayers with fervency, and by force.

Acts 2:42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

Pray that prayer altars in the church will come alive. Declare the resurrection power over the church. call froth every Lazarus out of the grave.

Acts 12:5 “So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.”

Psalm 34:17 “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Pray that the church will rise up and pray earnestly like the apostles of old. Only prayer with the word has power to deliver those in prison. The church must recognize this weapon in their hands.

Acts 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”

The apostles were on unshakable, unstoppable, bold and on fire for God always because they did not take prayer for granted. The Lord told them to go wait and they waited in fervent prayers to the point where the place was shaken. Pray that the church will catch this revelation and fire.

Luke 6:12 “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.”

Luke 11:1 “Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

Even Jesus our role model prayed and the disciples saw the way he did it and were not embarrassed to ask him to teach them. Pray has to be taught. Pray that the church will catch this revelation and work with the Holy Spirit to teach the ministry of prayer.
