Day 2: Who is for the Lord? Dealing with Oppositional Forces of the Gospel in the Cities

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
— Hebrew 4:12

Only the word of God has the power to destroy the power of anything that opposed the word of God. We must stand only on the provision that God had given to us and that is his word. For there is only one name by which deliverance will come-Jesus. Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

“1Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. And there at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men. Among them, I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, who were leaders of the people. 2And the LORD said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked counsel in this city. 3They are saying, ‘Is not the time near to build houses? The city is the cooking pot, and we are the meat. 4Therefore prophesy against them; prophecy, O son of man!” Ezekiel 11:1-4

The devil will do everything possible to stop the spread of the Gospel. We must remain vigilant as intercessors and follow the leading of the Spirit of the Lord which is the Spirit of truth and revelation to reveal to us everywhere the enemy is plotting wickedness against the cities. There is nothing hidden. We must identify and challenges these forces out of our cities. The word of the Lord says prophesy of them.

As intercessors, we must be burdened with the liberation of our cities to the point that we come before our heavenly king and plead the case of our cities with all humility like Queen Esther. And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews. Esther 8:3

If you are burdened with the sin in our cities today, then will be able to not have peace until you see the righteousness of God in the cities. “1For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be quiet until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch. 2 The nations shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give.” Isaiah 62: 1-2

Prayer Points

Only Jesus is Lord and must remain Lord over the cities, it’s not about us. We must declare that the god of this world must not invade our cities with the spirit of blindness. We must declare that the light of Christ must fall upon our cities and open the eyes of the blind so they can see and repent from following evil. “4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:4-6

Even in the place of standing in the gap for the things of God not all even so call Christians will see the need as you do, we must stand against all spirits of Sanballat and Tobiah that will want to interfair with the counsel of God in our cities. “When Sanballat and Tobiah, together with the Arabs, Ammonites, and Ashdodites, heard that the repair to the walls of Jerusalem was progressing and that the gaps were being closed, they were furious, 8and all of them conspired to come and fight against Jerusalem and create a hindrance. 9So we prayed to our God and posted a guard against them day and night.” Nehemiah 4:7-9

Declare this word of God over our cities. “24 The Lord Almighty has sworn,“ Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen. 25 I will crush the Assyrian in my land; on my mountains, I will trample him down. His yoke will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.” 26 This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all nations.27 For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:24-27

The work of God is always going to be hindered but pray for the spirit of encouragement and stand on God’s word calling on him to do that which is his will in our cities. “Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.” 1 Chronicles 19:13

Stand as David in prayer and ask the Lord to turn every counsel of the Ahithophels into foolishness. “Now someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, make the counsel of Ahithophel foolishness.” 2 Samuel 15:31

We must chase out any and every created or otherwise that stands against the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in our cities. “So they came and called to the gatekeepers of the city, and they told them, saying, “We came to the camp of the Arameans, and behold, there was no one there, nor the voice of man, only the horses tied and the donkeys tied, and the tents just as they were.” 2 Kings 7:10

Pray that every power or person who opposes the work of God in our cities must be broken into pieces, and ask for the thunder of heaven to strive them in the name of Jesus Christ. “The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; against them, he will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the power of his anointed.” 1 Samuel 2:10

Declare the wrath of God upon every plan that is not of God in our cities. "Woe to the rebellious children," declares the LORD, "to those who carry out a plan that is not Mine, who form an alliance, but against My will, heaping up sin upon sin. Isaiah 30:1
