Day3: Dedicating our Cities to the Leadership of Jesus Christ

The Importance of Dedicating our Cities to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

1.      “And He was given dominion, glory, and kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” Daniel 7:14

2.     “9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth” Philippians 2:9-10

3.     “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:18

4.     “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!.” Psalm 33:12

5.     Psalm 128:1-2 “1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.”  Deuteronomy 6:2 “so that you and your children and grandchildren may fear the LORD your God all the days of your lives by keeping all His statutes and commandments that I give you, and so that your days may be prolonged.”

6.     Deuteronomy 28:8 “The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

The word of God is the word of God, it stands forever and ever for there is no rewriting of the word. God’s word is sealed. Jesus has been given dominion, glory, and kingship over the nations of the earth. Therefore, it is for the good of the land to invite his majesty into our earthly space. God has invested everything into that name called Jesus, therefore everything we need for life and Godlessness is found only in his name.

Dedication of Our Cities to the Lord

Father according to your word in Jeremiah 29:7 “7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Irrespective of how affiliated we are to our cities, you have placed us there for your purpose alone and as we dedicate them to you, it’s our prayer that you will hear, forgive, and heal our cities. We have sinned according to Ezra 9: 6- 7 “ 6 I prayed, “O my God, I am utterly ashamed; I blush to lift up my face to you. For our sins are piled higher than our heads, and our guilt has reached to the heavens. 7 From the days of our ancestors until now, we have been steeped in sin. That is why we and our kings and our priests have been at the mercy of the pagan kings of the land. We have been killed, captured, robbed, and disgraced, just as we are today”. Help our cities to take a bold step and draw closer to you according to Hebrews 10:22 “19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

Father, in the name of Jesus we commit our cities and everyone as well as what we do into your holy hands according to your word; Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Asking Oh Lord that our cities and their plans that align with your will shall prosper in the name of Jesus Christ. For your word in Proverbs 16:9 “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Father come and direct the path for our cities that everything and everyone; the church, leaders, men, women, and children may follow your path in the name of Jesus Christ. Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.” Oh Lord, how wonderful it will be that your kingdom come and your will only be done in our cities. Father revive us oh Lord according to Psalm 119:88 “88Revive me according to Your loving devotion, that I may obey the testimony of Your mouth. 89Your word, O LORD, is everlasting; it is firmly fixed in the heavens.” Father thank you that from this day our cities are transformed as we receive your kingdom according to Hebrews 12:28-29 “28 Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Prayer Points

1.     As we have decided to call on the name of the Lord on behalf of our cities, God’s favor and presence are with us, and therefore we should ask him to forgive the iniquities and sins of our cities and take us as his inheritance. 9“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your inheritance.” Exodus 34:9

2.     Stand on God’s word and proclaim this word calling our cities to return to the Lord. Jeremiah:12-13 “12Go, proclaim this message toward the north: ‘Return, O faithless Israel,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will no longer look on you with anger, for I am merciful,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will not be angry forever. 13Only acknowledge your guilt, that you have rebelled against the LORD your God. You have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every green tree and have not obeyed My voice,’ ” declares the LORD.”

3.     Because we have dedicated and declared that Jesus is Lord over our cities: We should now ask the Lord to build our cities, for without him there is only ineffective productivity physically and spiritually according to Leviticus 26:20 “and your strength will be spent in vain. For your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.”

For according to Palms 127: 1-2, 1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-  for he grants sleep to those he loves.” Psalm 127:1-2

“18 “This is what the LORD says: “ ‘I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and have compassion on his dwellings; the city will be rebuilt on her ruins, and the palace will stand in its proper place. 19 From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers, and they will not be decreased; I will bring them honor, and they will not be disdained. 20 Their children will be as in days of old, and their community will be established before me; I will punish all who oppress them. 21 Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them. I will bring him near and he will come close to me— for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?’ declares the LORD. 22 “‘So you will be my people, and I will be your God.” Jeremiah 30:18-22

  •  Mercy and restoration of the place of the church in our cities.

  •  Rebuild the church in holiness and righteousness: (church should be the model of the city)

  •  Rebuild our cities to walk in the fear of God

  •  Kindle the fire of prayer, love, comfort, growth, honor, evangelism,

  •  Restore our children to the place of communion with the Lord where their destinies are secured

  •  Raise leaders after the heart of God: 1 Kings 8:61 “Let your heart, therefore, be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.”

  •  We will walk in obedience to his word
