21-Day Fast: Day 1 - Thanksgiving & Repentance

In that day you will say: “I will praise You, Lord. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away and You have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord Himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.
— Isaiah 12:1-6 (NIV)
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.
— Psalm 100 (NIV)
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker
— Psalm 95:1-6 (NIV)

Use the verses above to enter into God’s temple for prayers.

Enter with thanksgiving, appreciate God for using us as a vessel of prayer and granting us the grace to focus on prayers this season. Thank God for Jesus who is the reason for the existence of the church today.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Pray for the spirit of humility over the church towards God and His word; leadership, workers, and the entire body. The church has not dealt well with God’s word.

1 Peter 5:5b “Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Pray that as a church, we clothe ourselves with humility towards one another. As a church sometimes we are so hostile towards one another, be it the pastor to pastor, brother to brother etc.

1 John 1:7-9 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The church has sinned; we need not to just say ‘Lord forgive us ‘but we must call into remembrance these things; just to list a few;

  • misrepresentation of God and His word,

  • preaching false gospel,

  • religious activities that have nothing to do with God,

  • idolatry,

  • the shepherd stealing from the sheep instead of feeding the sheep,

  • selfish and self-centeredness,

  • worship according to man’s agenda,

  • lack of prayers,

  • self-made commissions,

  • lukewarmness,

  • spiritual prostitution,

  • Jezebelic manipulation of people’s minds,

  • negligence,

  • forsaken our first Love and are now part time lovers with God;

  • carefree attitude of reference to God;

  • backsliding,

  • self-righteousness,

  • compromises,

  • laziness.

 Please refer to bible verses to back up these list as you pray.

Pray for the cleansing power in the blood of Jesus to cleanse the filthiness of the church. According to 1John 1:7 (but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin), the blood of Jesus cleanses from ALL types of sin, but it’s of no use to imagine it without applying it. Only the blood of Jesus has power over sin.

Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.”
Pray that the blood of Jesus will cleanse the church from every death work; the form of godliness in the church. Hebrew 9:14 “how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Plead with God for mercy: Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit

 John 15:3 “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.” Pray that God will speak His word at this time to cleanse the church again from every unrighteousness.

 According to our word as intercessors pray that God will pardon us according to His love. Numbers 14:19-20 “Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.” Then the Lord said, “I have pardoned, according to your word.”

Pray that the cleansing water of heaven will be poured upon the church again.  Ezekiel 36:25 “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.”

Add as led by the Spirit of God for this is only a guide.
