21-Day Fast: Day 2 - Raising Prayer Altar in the Church

Prayer and the Word of God represents the backbone of the church, yet this is the area which is less attractive.

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation. I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants— but let them not turn to folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
— Psalm‬ ‭85:6-13‬ ‭(NIV)‬‬
  1. Pray that prayers will come alive again in the church. Psalm 85:6 “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” God’s expectation is a continuous fire at the altar. Leviticus 6:12-13 “The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out”.

  2. Pray that the Holy Spirit will rekindle the fire to pray in the church

  3. Pray for divine visitation of the power of God.

  4. Pray for the baptism by fire as on the day of the Pentecost.

  5. Declare the first part of this verse over the church. Mathew 21:13 “It is written," he said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it 'a den of robbers.”

  6. Pray that God will raise church leaders with a heart for prayer not activities.

  7. Pray for cleansing by the power of the blood of Jesus over our prayer altars at home or church body.

  8. Pray that as we come to the altar, we will come clean. Genesis 8:20 “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.”

  9. Pray that as we come to the altar our sacrifice will be alive, holy, and pleasing to God. Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.”

  10. Pray that the church will desire to build a prayer altar. Genesis 26:25 “So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the Lord and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac's servants dug a well.”

  11. Pray that our hearts will be truthful and cleansed with the blood of Jesus so our prayers can be heard. Hebrew 10:22 “let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”

  12. Pray for a desire to call on him. Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

  13. Pray for a heart like Jesus to raise up early to pray. Mark 1:35 “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.”

  14. Pray that the church will embrace this truth and desire to pray. Psalm 145:18-19 “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.”

  15. Pray that the word of God will burn off the spirit of prayerlessness in the church. Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?”

  16. Pray for an outpour of the heavenly rain upon the thirsty ground of our prayer altars. Isaiah 44:3 “For I will pour out water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring and My blessing on your descendants;”

  17. Pray for an outpour of the grace to intercede. Zechariah 12:10 “I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.”

Add as lead by the Spirit of God for this is only a guide.
