Day 6: A Vessel of Honor

“20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.”
— 2 Timothy 2:20-21

God desires to use a man. Actually, he is always looking for a man. however, He has a criteria for selecting the kind he wants. The servants of God listed here have been hand-picked by God; we must, therefore, pray for them that they will continue to maintain the satisfaction and standards of how they were chosen.

Isaiah 42:6- 9: “This is what God the Lord says—the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: 6 I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, 7 to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. 8 I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. 9 See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”

We are praying that the creator of heaven and earth will cause these servants to walk in righteousness.

Pray that God will take hold of their hands and make them a covenant of light to his people for the work he has called them into- open the eyes of the blind- blindness to the word of God, freedom for the captives, declaring salvation to the lost, healing the sick, etc.

2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”

Pray that the word of God will always be their only reference as what it can do is revealed in Hebrew 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

Pray for a total dependence and seeking help from the Holy Spirit.

James 1:21 “Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

Pray for them that they will put away every soiled garment but will open those hearts to receive the word of God, which has the power to transform them in order that they will transform the sheep they have been put In charge of.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Pray that the word of God shall never lack in the heart of these servants so that they are able to teach with diligence to those entrusted in their hands.

Job 23:12 “I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

The word of God is a secure place of safety against sin. Sin is very cancerous and can really destroy destinies and purposes. Pray that these servants will make the word a priority.

Psalm 26:8: “LORD, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells.”

They must love dwelling in the presence of God because that is where his glory dwells. Pray for a desire to earnestly seek God

Psalm 63:1-2 “1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. 2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory”

The presence of God is a place of revelation, a place where he releases blessings.

Psalm 132:13-16 “13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, 14 This is my resting place forever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it. 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.”

The presence of God is a place of protection from the enemy. Psalm 32:7: “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Isaiah 54:17: “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.”

Pray that because they dwell in the presence of God, no weapon of the enemy against them shall stand. God will hide them according to Psalm 31:20: “You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the schemes of men. You conceal them in Your shelter from accusing tongues.”

Genesis 18:16-17, 19 “16 After this, the men set out from there and looked out over Sodom. Abraham went with them to send them off. 17 “Should I hide from Abraham what I’m about to do,” the Lord asked, 19 Indeed, I’ve made myself known to him in order that he may encourage his sons and the household that is born after him to keep the way of the Lord, and to do what is right and just, so that the Lord may bring about for Abraham what he has promised.”

When on dwell in his presence, God reveals his plans, his intents for the church. This is very important so the servants of God are able to communicate with the sheep. Pray that God will make himself known to these servants so that they may encourage the sheep to keep the way of the Lord.
